Why Workout in the Water with Drag Resistance Training Equipment?

Both Aqualogix and Aquastrength patented equipment capitalize on what we call “the principal of fluid omni-directional drag resistance” in water. Quite simply this means being able to work a muscle group equally and smoothly in any direction. In fluid dynamics, drag, which is sometimes called fluid resistance, refers to forces that act on a solid object in the direction of the relative fluid flow velocity.

Drag resistance equipment from Aqualogix and Aquastrength can be effectively used for all types of training:

  • Cardio: High intensity training with fast movements
  • Strength: Improve strength and muscle balance, work muscles in both directions without putting unnecessary stress on your joints. The Aqualogix Maximum Resistance Bells can produce over 60lbs in resistance when moved at a high speed*
  • Rehabilitation: Low impact training that allows you to easily target specific muscle groups
  • General Well-Being: Simple Movements such as walking and running
  • Sports Specific Training: Focus on developing strength and power while simulating sports specific movements such as a tennis swing, swim kick or boxing strike

Drag resistance training is suitable for all ages and fitness levels. The entire range of internationally patented Aqualogix and Aquastrength equipment has been designed to leverage the 3D properties of water. The more effort a person applies during their workout, the more resistance the water will provide, meaning the user is control and can customize the level at which they workout. The exact same set of equipment can be used by an elite level athlete or senior citizen.

Drag resistance training is also perfect for all types of pools, whether it is an Olympic sized pool or small swim spa. It is also ideal for performing both deep and shallow water workouts. To browse our full range of drag resistance equipment, click here.

*Resistance will depend on bell positioning, arm length and speed of movement. Most individuals will not be capable of moving the bell fast enough to create this level of resistance.

How do I assemble my Fins?2020-05-15T07:48:36-07:00

The Aqualogix Hybrid Fins will require basic assembly, you can find step by step instructions here: https://vimeo.com/371775345.

What Fins are best for plyometric / jumping exercises?2020-04-27T08:15:01-07:00

The Aquastrength Fins have been a popular choice among those who perform a lot of plyometric/jumping exercises as they provide slightly more vertical drag than the classic Aqualogix Fins. The new Hybrid Fin design added additional horizontal fins, thus increasing the vertical drag as well. To really increase the resistance, you can try holding a set of bells at your sides while performing the jumps.

The velcro is starting to wear out on my Fins, what do I do?2020-05-22T13:59:20-07:00

The Aqualogix Hybrid Fins and Aquastrength Fins come with fully replacement velcro straps and neoprene pads so you can easily replace them as they deteriorate over time with heavy use.

If you have a pair of the classic Aqualogix Fins (those with the plastic fins riveted to the strap), you can try this. You may be able to increase the security of the Velcro grip by adjusting (not cutting) the position of the neoprene pad. You can remove the pad from the fin and then slide it over about 1 inch. The overall length of the fin will now be longer and you will see the back side of the leading fin, when looking at the backside of the fin. This is fine though as you’ve also increased the surface area of the Velcro “Hooks” and will therefore have a better contact patch when wrapped.

What are the best Fins for general fitness?2020-04-20T18:57:44-07:00

The Hybrid All Purpose Fins and Aquastrength Fins are both great options for general fitness.

I have large ankles, will the Fins fit?2020-04-27T08:09:45-07:00

The Aqualogix fins work up to about 12.5” in circumference. If you are needing larger than that, you can check out our Aquastrength Fins as those can be adapted with extra straps to work with even greater circumferences. The same can be achieved with the Aqualogix Hybrid Fins, you can purchase an additional maintenance kit and “daisy chain” the two strap sets together to make a larger combined unit as shown below.
